Manchester Voices of Community and Faith Leaders

HIV in the Community
Manchester Voices of Community and Faith Leaders under M-Care project is funded by European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) in co-operation with European African Treatment Advocates Network (EATAN) and Catholics for HIV Prevention (CAPS).

The project aims to improve the capacity of key community leaders who work with migrants to further educate and support local members and to improve BAMER migrant communities involvement in HIV treatment related advocacy and activism.

Reinventing Success worked in collaboration with EATAN and CAPS in 2017 and 2018, to increase HIV& AIDS awareness for faith and community leaders working with BAMER migrants in Greater Manchester. The two-day workshop was attended by 26 faith and community leaders, and People Living with HIV (PLHIV). After the workshop, participants created action plans including among others, provision of HIV educational tools for faith, health and social care providers, interventions that aim to reduce HIV/AIDS-related stigma in health and care settings, HIV community champions and empowerment of people living with HIV to challenge HIV stigma and discrimination, and understand and protect their rights.
